First gig back
First gig back
Covid struck everyone in some way or other. For us, we were fortunate to avoid any serious health issues, but it was an existential crisis for the music industry, particularly those of us (most artists I know) who rely on playing live to earn a living in music. Our first festival after the lockdowns was a festival called Summersalt, at Glenelg beach, not far from Adelaide. It was a lifeline to us to be offered a run of shows at a time when no one was out playing live at all. The Cat Empire played last on the bill and as I was watching them play the sun set and the moon appeared in what felt like a magical sign that things were going to get better.
